Environmental Week

This may be interesting to some of you who want to take an environmental approach to architecture. I received this email from Geres Cambodia. If anyone is interested they can download the file by clicking on the title (Environmental Week) above.

To All Organizations Concerned with Environmental Issues,

I am writing to inform you of an opportunity to participate in La Semaine de l’Environnement/Environment Week during the 3rd week of September, 2008. The idea of a week of the environment was created at meetings late last year by the institutions involved in the First International Film Festival 2007. The Week could become a platform for providing visibility to this theme, although each organization will fund its own events.

The objectives of the week are to raise awareness and educate the public on environmental issues through multiple media and to share experiences among organizations with environmental programs. The concept is to bring together organizations interested in hosting environmentally-themed special events and to orchestrate the implementation of a multi-location, week-long series of events.

GERES Cambodia is tasked with coordinating the feasibility study to determine if there is enough interest in this concept from local and international organizations located in Cambodia. The study must be completed by early June, 2008.

There are two options for participation:

1) Host an event in collaboration with the Environment Week activities.
2) Sponsor an event or marketing and communications requirements for the Week.

For those interested in Option 1, please fill out and return the attached form by close of business Tuesday, June 3, 2008. There are no limitations to the type of event that interested organizations may plan. Events may be hosted by one organization, or may be hosted in partnership. Targets include the broad public, so you can propose events targeting families, children, students, women, athletes, business people, informal workers, professionals, farmers, traders, fishermen, etc. You may be as creative as possible, as long as the main objectives of raising awareness and educating the public on environmental issues are met. We would like to gather your most interesting ideas and use that as a launching point for the organization of Environment Week.

For those interested in providing sponsorship, please inform us by replying to this email with details about the type of sponsorship in which you would be interested. Participation in Environment Week is open to all interested organizations.

Please feel free to forward this email to your contacts. My apologies for any cross-posting.

Sincerely,

(Mlle.) Jocelyn Roberts
